After 3 long years of tough work, Farm Girl is faced with a decision - should she use the controversial training technique known as "laying down" in hopes of reforming him? Some claim it works miracles in abusive and disfunctional horses, others claim it could possibly harm a horse psycohlogically.
In this brief introduction to her palomino horse "Moisie" (short for Moisionitte), WTFarm girl explains why she came to the conclusion that this technique might be the best option for his bad behavior.
I've spent countless hours working with the tiniest of basic skills, getting him to the point of being able to walk on a lead rope, lunge and back up. Even in saddle work has consisted of quiet cues with stopping, backing, and responding to leg cues.
BUT, it's only when he feels like it, and one day he could be perfect and the next a hellion. My little mare does NOT have this issue and she's not anywhere near broke out yet, nor has she had as much in hand work. We've had her since she was 2 (she's going on 5). It took me 3 days to teach her to lunge. Moisie has taken over a year.
