A NEW LINCS RADIO STATION
In this Sundays update I chat to Steve Orchard, who used to present the Lincs FM Farming Programme before all local radio was taken over by Bauer Media and run from Manchester. Steve, along with other familiar Lincs FM names have started a new, local radio station called Lincs Radio. Steve chats to me about its launch and what we can expect to hear.
HARICOT/NAVY BEANS
Eric comes over from Warwick Uni (who we are growing the beans in conjunction with) and does a detailed assessment of the 3 varieties, black cooking bean, Olivia, blonde cooking bean Godiva and baked bean Capulet. He also records a clip from his crop at the University.
RIVER REPAIRS
Our local Drainage board, Upper Witham, are carrying out repairs to the River Brant which runs through the farm. The bank has slipped so it is being reinforced with stakes and long planks to stabilise it. I wasn’t around when this work was done so excavator driver Darren records some footage of the job and describes what he’s doing.
PX OPEN DAY
I visit James Pecks farm at Dry Drayton, along with 2,000 other people to see James impressive operation. Lots of kit to see after a great mornings conference and a good lunch thrown in too. Great to see and speak to so many fillers of Wardys Waffle, thanks for saying hello.
DISCOVERY WINDSCREEN
After weeks of driving though a huge crack I decided to get it replaced! ABC Windscreens from Lincoln come to the farm and took about an hour to do it. I didn’t realise the number of sensors built in, these all need carefully removing and installing in the new one. Need a rain to check it doesn’t leak! Great job done though.
