I visit Gareth Wynn Jones in north wales and discuss the straw situation for this winter. It is not looking good due to the persistent bad weather since Oct 2023 meaning many acres across the country are not growing a crop and where crops were planted, many fields had water logged areas which will further impact on the amount of available straw.

We haven’t baled any straw for many years but we need to do our bit so will be baling most of the cereal crops we are growing.
