The day starts in a frustrating way, as the 40 acre block of maize we had planned to harvest was too wet under foot to cut as we would have torn the whole field up and made it impossible to get our wheat in the ground post harvest!
Will moves the John Deere 9700 forage harvester down to Tiverton to cut the next block waiting for us where we find some mixed results in terms of the maturity of the crops - with the largest field at 32% Dry Matter with a couple at 35% and a couple at 39% - with the tonnages impacted accordingly in terms of ‘wet weight’.

Trailers for the day were all available John Deere 6R250s - one of which I drove for the final load back from Tiverton as Flyn left work early. Then the Fastrac and 2 8R370s made up the other trailers while Steve was buck taking with his John Deere 8R410.

The evening sees us move to a block of ground bordering the AD plant were harvesting to as we cut a further 2 fields before calling it a day. The maize wasn’t quite mature enough for what we aim for so we closed play at about 9pm.
