Welcome back to another busy day here on the potato farm! Things started off rough — we were broke down before sunrise. The harvester needed a new bearing, and while that was getting fixed, I got called over because one of the trucks had broken rollers everywhere. Bolts were bent, rollers were snapped off, and nothing lined up right. I got started tearing it apart, but this job takes two people — one to lift underneath and one to line things up on top. Eventually, help arrived and we got rolling again (literally).

Meanwhile, the field crew got back to digging potatoes, and these spuds looked perfect. We’ve been battling rocks and eliminators all day, but most of them are coming out clean. Then we had a mix-up with semi loads — loaded the wrong potatoes, had to unload them, then reload them again when another farm got rained out and needed spuds. Just another day of moving things back and forth!

Later, we fixed roller after roller (twelve in total!), welded some brackets, replaced broken chains, and even had to patch up a snapped link on the Evenflow bin. Once everything was running again, I headed back out to chisel plow, test some new ground, and get ready for next year’s potato and wheat crops.
