It’s a rainy day on the farm, and we’re dealing with major irrigation system problems. After over half an inch of rare Idaho rain, I shut off the ditch and pivot—only to discover a mainline blowout. The pivot booster pump isn’t working right either. Meanwhile, we’re digging up a cracked section of old glue-in mainline pipe that’s been replaced piece by piece over the years. Things take a turn when we hit the pivot power conduit—twice. The wires were laid right over or under the mainline, causing major issues. We’re also contending with old manure lines, muddy trenches, and tight repair timelines. Farming’s never easy, especially when everything breaks at once!
