What started as a simple day of turning on irrigation pivots quickly turned into a full-blown disaster. One pivot won’t move, another has a noisy gearbox, and yet another is spraying me in the face thanks to 30 mph winds and some very unfortunate timing. I test motors, climb towers, call the electrician, and even haul off a 15-foot-long busted pump motor. And just when I think I’m making progress, I get drenched fixing nozzles I can’t even shut off. It’s days like this that prove farming is anything but predictable. But we keep pushing forward, solving problems one soaking wet step at a time.
