We recently had a follower ask: what exactly is custom farming? So today, we’re breaking it down — at least when it comes to our operation.
For us, custom farming means custom forage harvesting. We work with local dairy farms to harvest the forages they feed their cattle all year long. That means spending our entire summer harvesting four crops of hay and then rolling right into the corn silage harvest in early fall.
It takes a lot of horsepower and a lot of help to get the job done, and our New Holland choppers, tractors, trucks, and crew are up for the challenge.
We also do another unique form of custom farming for dairy: custom raising heifers (young female cattle) for one of the dairies we partner with.
This is what custom farming looks like for us — and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
