It was 31 degrees this morning, six days before June, and we've got corn an
inch and a half tall and soybeans just breaking through. We don't know yet
how bad the damage is — corn will probably push through its own dead leaves,
but the bean cotyledons are a real concern. It'll take a day or two to know.
In between checking the crop, we hauled the last of the soybeans, chased a
grindy noise around a semi for an hour (it was the fifth wheel plate), and
caught up on what the China soybean situation actually looks like right now.
The White House announced $17 billion in ag purchases — no contract behind
it yet, but the markets liked it.
