In today's video, we are looking at how to dehorn calves in a pain-free & stress-free way. We look at why we do it (and don't do it) and look at a comparison of a dehorned bull and a non-dehorned bull. We use anaesthetic to numb the area and then support the calf in a crate. We use a gas dehorner to burn a ring around the bud of the horn to stop it from growing by cutting off the blood supply to it. This time we are just dehorning the first of this years calves that we have got so far.
