Sometimes you can afford to buy a new tool and sometimes it is just not worth it. As a farmer you're going to get to a point where when you need something you just walk into the shop and create it.
The other day I was shaping brick to put a new pipe through a chimney and I did not have a cold chisel. I went out to the shop and cut down a piece of rebar then ground the end to a point. The chisel I created was very effective at getting the job done, and now I have one if I ever need it.
