Measure twice, graze once? There's a very simple and practical amount of math required for a better level of grazing. Using a tool like the grazing stick will help you make decisions on farm and manage your herd or flock better.
As I strive to be a better farmer I realize that decision fatigue it a real thing, and any tool I can use to help me make decisions lightens my mental load and I am a better and more effective farmer for it. I call it "outsourcing my brain".
The grazing stick and the calculations it helps you with will let you know how much dry matter or forage you have and thus determine a paddock size for your herd. You don't have to stand and guess and worry if you made the right decision because it will have been made for you.
Also it is good for tracking. If you take note of the forage density in your grazing chart then you will have a better picture of your farm going forward. You can better plan your rotations, land carrying-capacity for livestock, and get more out of your pasture.
