While an extruded metal floor would be nice to just drop the manure right on to the pasture, I find that this floor gives me a little bit longer of a season on pasture by keeping the coop warmer and I benefit from being able to collect and compost all of the manure. I actually have a metal grate floor in another coop and it works great. Both options have their pros and cons.
