Processing chickens goes a lot easier when you withhold feed the last 24 hours before you butcher. That leaves the crop empty and the intestines cleaner. The whole process is smoother and you have a lower chance for contamination if you do it.

I still keep the birds on pasture but I don't give them their supplemental feed.
