I don't know about you, but I don't love getting in the car to drive somewhere. Sure, there are the occasional leisurely drives, but generally commuting is a chore. I will jump all over any chance to stay home and tend the animals and plants under my care.

The MAJOR downside to doing that, over time, is after spending so much effort to insulate yourself from the world, you begin to forget that you are part of something more.

You begin to see yourself and your world as only extending as far as necessary to support your homestead or farm.

Planning for days to travel, to see the world, will help remind you that your efforts locally are impacted by people globally. Money and politics may dictate policy, but that has real -world consequences on the local level.

Tory's video meant a lot to me personally, because it served as a reminder that we have family everywhere. We are all bound through the equality of our mutual human existence. And if nothing else, I really meant it when I said I wanted to go to Hawaii and get tattoos.
