Flame Weeding in Slow Motion

9.36am - Monday 13th July 2015 4,816

Flame weeding is a form of organic weed control. You wouldn't burn them like in the video, but rather just heat up the weeds to 160 degrees to break down their cell structure. http://farmmarketingsolutions.com

This organic weed control is used mostly in stale seed bedding. You till or turn the bed over 2 weeks before you plants your crops. Then you cover it with a tarp. This lets all the weed seeds germinate and get to white thread phase.

Then you take the tarps off and flame weed right before you transplant. The idea is that you've germinated and killed the majority of the weed seeds and your plants should thrive without competition.
