At the beginning of the video, I give some important information about the future of the channel and upcoming video frequency. I have been cleaning the house for the past three weeks and I am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Once the house in cleaned, I will be able to make two videos a week.
This video starts at 5:30 a.m. I headed out to the field to go start spraying 32% nitrogen with our Hagie STS10. We have had small planting windows due to the rain so we are really trying to get a good jump on days we are allowed to plant. I took the Freightliner semi out to the sprayer, checked the engine oil in the sprayer, and checked the coolant in the sprayer. I then filled up the sprayer with 32% and started spraying. I show what 33.5 gallons per acre looks like coming out of the sprayer and explained how the boom-shutoffs work as well as a little bit of information about how the sprayer works.
Once I got done in the first field, I took the sprayer to the next field and then Dad came to pick me up. Once Dad picked me up, we went to go switch boxes on the seed tender, loaded the planter, and then Dad went back to planting corn, while I went back to spraying. Dad tells us what is going on in the planter tractor and he plugs up a row unit which he later unplugs.
Once again... I accidentally over-filled the sprayer. 32% nitrogen is not harmful when we spill it. It is basically steroids for the corn. I greased the sprayer while I was filling it. On my next load, the rip cord on the transfer pump decided to tear so I had to walk home, go to the local rip-cord dealer, and then get it replaced. We got it up and running in just under two hours. I then completed the second field.
Daddy Cornstar then gives some more wonderful advice. Do not worry, Daddy Cornstar always has good advice.
I headed to my third field for the day and the culvert needed to get there was completely washed out. I had to go around and go through a neighbors field in order to get access to the field. I just barely beat the rain but I got it done. On the way back home, I had my roommate drive the sprayer while I drove the semi. He got over for a planter to pass and the side of the ditch sunk and the sprayer ended up down in the ditch. Luckily, we were able to drive the sprayer through the ditch and get it out. We were lucky!
Thank you for watching the video! As always, it is a pleasure for me to bring you guys videos.
