Detailing An Old Tractor | Harvest Preparations

11.00pm - Saturday 7th September 2019 186,749

The video starts with Cooper showing off his new purchase and us waiting for Daddy Cornstar to get done with his after lunch "break". Once Dad got done with his "break" I bring the 1981 John Deere 4840 that is pulling the Brent 674 grain cart home. Once it is at home, I cleaned the inside of the grain cart out, and the proceeded to power wash the grain cart and the tractor.

The next day, we went into full attack mode on the John Deere. We pulled the auto-steer wires out of the cab, swept the cab, vacuumed the cab, cleaned the windows, waxed the tractor, greased the tractor, greased the grain cart, put a new light on the grain cart auger, checked the air pressure in the tires, checked the wheel hubs on the grain cart, and changed the engine oil with the respective filters. A few more things that I highlight in the video need to be done on the John Deere, but once those are done, it will be completely ready for harvest.

We brought the John Deere over to the big machine shed and then picked up the 1991 Case IH 7140 that is also pulling a Brent 674 grain cart. The 7140 will get the same treatment that the John Deere received. After we were done working on the tractors for a little while, Daddy Cornstar and I scouted some beans fields. Dad explains a few things we are looking for in the beans and we talk about a couple of the repercussions of having a wet spring and lacking field tile.

We disappeared to the farm progress show for a day and then took a day of downtime to recovery from our late night the day before. Once we got rolling on the farm again, we had a grave to dig so we got the 2005 Bobcat T-190 fueled up, checked over, and loaded on the trailer, as well as the Case 480C backhoe. I explain some of the challenges we run into a cemeteries and some of the methods we use to do things. Once we got done digging the grave, we cleaned everything up, and headed back home.

Thanks for watching guys!
