YOU GUYS ARE UNBELIEVABLE!! We have eclipsed 10,000 subscribers! Thank you to everyone who has subscribed. Don't forget to leave a question for either Dad, my brother, me, or anyone else on the farm so it can possibly be included in the 10,000 subscriber Q/A video.
I hope you enjoy this video. "Daddy Cornstar" makes plenty of appearances after several requests. Spring is among us in Iowa! Field work is right around the corner. The weather may be slowing work down, but the work to be done has not slowed down. We have many loads of corn that still need to be hauled into the ethanol plant and the weather has not wanted to cooperate. We have loaded over 25 loads of corn this past week in hopes of getting ahead of the inevitable spring thaw. Once the roads thaw they will be extremely soft and will be inaccessible for a week or two via semi. Three different semis make appearances in this video. We have about 15,000 bushels of corn left in the big machine shed and are looking forward to getting it empty. Once the big machine shed is empty we will be able to fill it with equipment. Then we have eight grain bins that need to be emptied. Soybeans won't be hauled in until later in the summer. As we are loading corn I answer a few commonly asked questions about our equipment.
We are getting closer to plant 2019 so we decided to bring our Massey Ferguson 4880 4WD tractor home to the heated shop to be serviced. Once at home we discovered one of the tires was shot and went flat. The 4880 received a power washing and then I cover what needs to be done on it to be ready for spring tillage. We will be changing the oil, filters, checking fluids, greasing the tractor, and putting on a new tire. Oils and filters will be changed in all the tractors coming in the next few weeks. Once the roads straighten out, we will be bringing our planter home to prepare it for corn and soybean planting season. Busy season will be upon us quick! Stay tuned for the journey.
