So it’s a hot topic this last few days and has shed some much needed light on the state of our rivers and waterways, without management they tend to cause havoc and some balance must be reached. We have been on both sides of the coin having had two businesses and our own home under six foot of water several times. And ALSO we farm on the banks of the very river that torments us so much. And far from hating the thing I love the Eden, it’s volatile and powerful and yet on a summers night twinkles in the light and has a real magic, It’s always been a big topic in our house due to living on the banks and farming next to it. We really are qualified to talk from both perspectives. The ONLY good thing to have come out of this situation is the talking point! The EA looks bad the fella who did it looks bad farming as a whole looks bad nobody is winning and it’s very sad! More division is created and that’s not what we need. Some sort of organisation who has the waterways functionality and takes into consideration more than just the wildlife within it is needed to strike a balance.
