I used to be a carer on nights. I remember waking up at 5pm to get to work for seven and stay up all night with a slightly hollow feeling, I didn’t hate it I always felt fulfilled but the dread of waking up and setting off all over again sticks with me, presently I’m sat in a hospital ward with a neighbour keeping guard while she awaits an X-ray, I’m watching all these girls running round nurses and carers and I’m reminded of the life I used to have working nights in a residential home, and all of a sudden at 34 nearly 15 years later I’m overcome with the feeling again of URGHH not again, hopelessness and the feeling of life just taking you along not really being yourself or fitting in and I just had to text Roy and tell him how lucky we are, I can’t even put into words let alone a video at 1.49am how grateful I am I found Roy and my life on the farm. It was all a fluke the whole thing a few seconds different and none of it would have happened the stars actually aligned and I found who I am, who I am meant to be, I’m not sharing my life because Its fashionable I HAVE TO I love it like every second I am eternally thankful for even the mud and the shit and when things go wrong, since doing this as my “job” I have never felt that hopeless feeling and being here tonight has reminded me how lucky I am. How many people have had missed opportunities and got thrown on a different path in life. Honestly I can’t convey how much I want to inspire other people to get into this industry it’s the most brilliant rewarding grounding life changing testing upsetting REAL profession in the world I only hope more girls from the city fall into it and find their vocation like me. If you read all that you deserve a medal, nearly as much as these guys in scrubs running round hospital 🥰
