Today on the farm we’re trying to keep everything alive during some extremely dry conditions here in Idaho. We start the day filling ponds and getting pivots running so we can water our wheat and new alfalfa fields before heading back out to finish cultivating potatoes with the dammer diker.
We also check out our potato cellar where millions of pounds of Idaho potatoes are being shipped out to grocery stores and Costco stores around the country. There’s actually a chance some of the potatoes you buy could come straight from our farm!
Christopher and the guys are busy planting 260 acres of new alfalfa hay while I keep working through another 500+ acres of potatoes that still need to be cultivated. Between pivot problems, leaking ditches, dusty fields, late nights, and equipment issues, there’s never a dull moment during farming season.
Hope you guys enjoy coming along for another busy day here on the farm!
